Freezer Inventory

I have a problem with buying too much food. All the time. We have a chest freezer in the garage and it's full. This Jan many families are participating in an "Eat from the Pantry" challenge. Well, while I do have a full pantry, my freezer is worse. This household will be participating in a tailor-made "Eat from the Freezer" challenge. My goal is to only purchase produce and milk for the rest of the month. We'll see how I do. I like to browse online recipes and experiment. This could be hard. But as witness to the fact that we have waaayyy too much food in our freezer, here is the inventory Lance and I just completed.

Yep, that's everything in my outside freezer. We get a side of beef from Lance's family, hence the large amounts of beef. I still need to figure out something to do with round steak. It appears that I also like purchasing ice cream. And this isn't even mentioning the ice cream we have in the house ... But this list is why I'm declaring January "Eat out of your Freezer" month!

Kara,

That is CRAZY! I was wondering about the source of all that beef, so am glad you answered my question.

I'll trade you some pheasant for some of the baked goods! =)

I'm doing the challenge in my own way, too, just haven't taken the time yet to write about it.

Kara, I think your new goal should be to not buy anything new until MARCH or later. With that amount of frozen food, I think Lance will still be well fed. :) Have fun with your creativity! We throw so much away - I would never think about freezing cheese!
